Nex-Tech Supports Norton County Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge (YEC)
Recently, our team supported the business ideas of students at the Norton County Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge (YEC). Students from High Schools and Junior High Schools across the county developed over 40 different businesses. Notably, these were ‘businesses’. They were not just an idea or a plan, but actual enterprises that were operational and making a profit. These businesses were built by teenagers from their day-to-day experiences in farms, towns, and neighborhoods of Norton County.
We were impressed by the ability of the students to answer questions about marketing, sales, financials and bookkeeping, taxes, and sustainability. Most importantly, these businesses were investable – ready to grow, expand, and contribute to the local economy.
We were inspired by the ingenuity of these students. We appreciate their teachers, Network Kansas, Norton County Economic Development Organization, Norton County Chamber of Commerce, Norton County Foundation, and the Norton Community Junior High and High School.
