Nex-Tech Engages Rural Economic Developers in Hugoton, KS

December 12, 2023

Last week, we invested two days in Hugoton, Kansas, with dozens of economic development organizations and institutions from across western Kansas.
The occasion was the quarterly conference of the Western Kansas Rural Economic Development Alliance (WKREDA). The conference is a platform to:

  • Discuss economic issues affecting western Kansas.
  • Learn about innovative ways to drive rural development in western Kansas.
  • Promote professionalism within the economic development profession in western Kansas.

Though famous for its natural gas reserves, the authorities in the Hugoton area are working to diversify the local economy while strengthening legacy industries. In the course of the meeting at Hugoton, delegates learned about the Kansas Infrastructure Hub. Nex-Tech hopes that organizations and institutions in the region will leverage the massive range of funding still available at the hub as allocated through the 2022 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

WKREDA will be marking its 30th anniversary in 2024. The alliance has been instrumental in advancing the economic development of our region. Nex-Tech is proud to be a member of WKREDA and we say congratulations.
