Does my company have to support childcare? Yes; and for good reasons.

Today stakeholders agree that there is a direct relationship between the availability of adequate and affordable childcare and the presence of a professional and ready workforce in a community. When families have adequate childcare, they are more likely to increase the time they invest in economic activities, thereby contributing to the local economy. In turn, families can earn more income to afford the goods or services of a company.
When childcare opportunities are available in a community and families have more time, here are some examples of what could happen. A mom could start a business, work for an existing business, or take time to gain some new skills. She may also be able to keep her existing job/work and not resign or close down. A dad is likely to increase the hours he invests in running the local car shop, the local bakery, the local grocery shop; or increase the hours he volunteers at the local fire department. Even a grandparent is likely to have more time to learn a new skill and contribute to the community. This vision helps us to see some unique connections.
“Our support for childcare centers is, therefore, a support for business growth, a support for enterprise and initiative, and a support towards the future vitality of the community.”
At Nex-Tech, we have always believed that our communities are a network where one element supports the other to make a functioning whole. As a business, we recognize that there are many non-business reasons why an economy turns out to be successful. We pay attention to the drivers of the local economy and try to contribute to them. Our support for childcare centers is, therefore, a support for business growth, a support for enterprise and initiative, and a support towards the future vitality of the community. We know that there is a strong connection between childcare affordability and availability and the full participation of women in the economy. We believe that investing in the childcare sector will benefit the whole local economy by expanding the overall supply of labor and increasing the number of mothers who are working.
This is why we have ramped up our efforts to support childcare initiatives in recent years. Our support has been mostly 3-fold:
- We donate financial resources towards childcare projects.
- We sponsor some childcare costs.
- We provide our broadband and business technologies to enhance the operation of childcare facilities.
Below are some of the childcare centers in Kansas that we have supported over the last couple of years.
